Product Information
The Patrician has a readership of approximately 2000 serving members and friends of the Regiment, posted across Canada and deployed around the world, and approximately 1000 members of the PPCLI Association. The journal provides an important record of Regimental activities and is intended to promote esprit de corps within one of Canada's finest infantry regiments. The Patrician was first published in May 1933, under the title Esquimalt Patrician, as a quarterly journal of the Regiment. The editors were located at Work Point Barracks, British Columbia, and the journal was printed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The last pre-war copy was sent to the printer as Volume V, No. 3, but was never published due to the outbreak of WWII. In 1946, the Regiment published a monthly newsletter from Calgary, Alberta. During the Korean War, the publication was once more suspended.
In 1953, The Patrician was reinstituted as a semi-annual journal in a small book format until 1960, when financial constraints forced a move to an annual publication. In 1975, the Regimental Executive Committee approved the publication of The Patrician in a magazine format. The publication reverted to the small book format in 1995, then back to a magazine format in 2003. In 2009, The Patrician moved to a large format with the assistance of our partners at Elite Printing.
The 100th Anniversary edition is Volume LXVI, and chronicles the commemorations held during calendar year 2014.
The Patrician is published by Regimental Headquarters, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, under the authority of the Regimental Executive Committee.
